Chantilly High School projects 725 high schoolers to graduate in 2025. From graduation to senior events and grad parties, this time is filled with activities and milestones leading up to the end of students’ high school year.
Seniors must fill out a form to purchase their cap and gown, using the link on the @chantillyclassof2025 Instagram or Class of 2025 schoology. They must also pay their dues for senior activities and graduation on MySchoolBucks. Several automated emails were sent to students and parents as reminders. Cap and gown pickup will be on Wednesday, June 4 during lunch, and on Thursday, June 5, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
“They need to pay senior dues so that we can pay for all the fun activities leading up to graduation,” assistant principal Maura Edwards said. “They get to enjoy being a senior and show up when it’s time for graduation.”
Seniors will end the year with convocation, followed by senior barbecue on May 22. Cap and gown June 4 and June 5. Graduation rehearsal on June 9 and graduation ceremony on June 10 followed by the all-night grad party will take place.
The first upcoming event for seniors will be convocation and senior barbecue on May 22. Convocation is an invite-only event, as awards and recognition will be given. Senior barbecue details are currently not final.
One thing that is shifting this year is that students and teachers will attend the graduation rehearsal together, instead of having rehearsal at separate times. Graduation rehearsal will take place on June 9, at 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. To celebrate, there will be cake in place of senior breakfast.
“I’m fine with the teachers being there, I appreciate the support, knowing that they are there,” senior Jahan Sindi said. “Having teachers will bring more structure and students will be more comfortable since I’m sure anxiety about graduation is common.”
Elementary and middle school walks will take place after graduation rehearsal. If students don’t have an elementary or middle school in the Chantilly pyramid, a grad walk will be held at CHS for all students.
“I’m excited to walk the stage, and I also really like the activities where we go back to our elementary school,” senior Arienna Sudama-Saroop said. “Just to see how different the people at Brookfield were, compared to how they are now, it’s a comparison that makes me happy.”
The senior class board has selected history and social studies teacher Joseph Clement as the faculty speaker, and opened up graduation/convocation speaker applications, which was due on April 25. Speeches should be sent to [email protected]. An email was sent to seniors for more information about requirements.
“I am working with faculty and the senior class board to make sure everything is in place and making sure all the students know where they need to be and when for the ceremony,” Edwards said.
The graduation ceremony will be held on June 10, at 7 p.m. in EagleBank Arena. Seniors should arrive at 5:00 p.m. and enter from the Loading Dock, located on the southside of Eagle Bank Arena. Cellphones are not allowed at the graduation ceremony, and all seniors must wear caps and gowns along with appropriate business attire.
“I am excited to be fitted up for graduation because I think I will look really nice,” senior Duaa Osman said. “I don’t like the color of the cap and gown though.
After the graduation ceremony, an all-night grad party will be held on June 10, at 11 p.m. at Funland. There will be casino games, ropes courses, go-karts, laser tag and video games. A buffet and soft drinks will be offered. Hourly prizes and a grand prize drawing will take place. Prizes include electronics, gift cards and sports event tickets. Tickets to enter go for $85 until June 5, and to purchase at the door is $100.
“What’s exciting about it this year is for the first time, instead of being here at school, they’re doing it at Funland,” Edwards said. “It will be really cool.”
