The DMV Area is full of tourist attractions, like our nation’s capital, that draw people from all over the country. Luckily, we are fortunate to have these sites in our back yard. There are attractions for all sorts of people, ranging from the historic sites of Virginia to the commercial centers of Maryland.
VIRGINIA
Luray Caverns
This underground cave is located just outside Luray, Virginia and is full of many types of rock formations and crystals. Visitors are welcome to take a walking tour through the cave and enjoy other attractions in Shenandoah Valley. They can also can enjoy going through a garden maze and climbing on a ropes course.
Jamestown/Williamsburg
To get a taste of what was Virginia’s first capitals were like, parts of these historic sites are open for people to walk around. People can make old- fashioned candles, shop in old shoppes, and even take pictures in the stocks on site.
MARYLAND
National Aquarium
The National Aquarium in Baltimore is home to more than 17,000 creatures from over 750 different species. People are able to talk tours through the aquarium and admire the diversity of marine life, from the Amazon River Forest exhibit to the Shark Alley exhibit.
Deep Creek
Deep Creek Lake is Maryland’s largest freshwater lake and is part of the four season resort, Wisp. Visitors can stay lakeside in a cabin or in a lodge on the 65 miles of shoreline. During the warmer months the resort offers many activities including boating, hiking and golf.
DC
Museums (Smithsonian, Wax, Spy)
In addition to National Smithsonian museums, DC is also home to many unique museums including Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and the International Spy Museum. At the Wax Museum, tours are offered and you also have the opportunity to take pictures with your favorite historical figure or celebrity. At the Spy museum, visitor have the opportunity to take on a cover identity and even solve their own case.
Verizon Center
This multi-purpose arena in DC hosts various events to cater to everybody’s interest. The arena hosts sporting events for the Washington Wizards and the Washington Capitals. Many well-known bands and undiscovered artists alike also stop here for concerts.
