Sugary, soft and buttery are only a few ways to describe Crumbl’s cookies. Established in 2017 by two cousins in Utah, Crumbl has expanded significantly, establishing through their popular new weekly lineup.

Crumbl grows in popularity on social media, through their popular marketing of switching menu of desserts each week. Located in the Field at Commonwealth, during the week of Apr. 28-May 5, Crumbl served Carrot Cake, OREO Birthday Cake, Butter Cake, Dulce De Leche, Brookie and Strawberry Ice Cream Bar. 

Birthday Cake Cookie (featuring Oreo) 6/10

The Birthday Cake Cookie was the best decorated cookie as it had colorful rainbow sprinkles and cookie pieces on top of the frosting. As for the cookie, the base was Oreo flavored and the frosting was cream cheese with cake batter flavoring. 

The first bite into the cookie was soft, but overwhelming with the creamy, buttery frosting. The flavor of the cookie as a whole was dominated by the Oreo base with only a hint of birthday cake. The sweetness of the cake was too much to take in and it  felt overloaded with sugar rather than flavor. It was a shocker to see the nutrition information with 2200 calories and sugar 113 grams per cookie.

Brookie Cookie 7/10

The Brookie Cookie contained two Crumbl classics mixed into one: the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Chocolate Cookie. The Brookie Cookie is one of the four cookies of the week that was served warm, leading it to be very soft inside. 

Going into the first bite of both sides of the Brookie, there was a very high expectation regarding the flavor, which the cookie didn’t live up to. Though the chocolate cookie side of the Brookie cookie was very pleasant and addicting, it tasted more like a chocolate fudge brownie, rather than a chocolate cookie. 

The chocolate chip side was disappointing due to it being a rather normal chocolate chip cookie. It tasted as a chocolate-chip cookie that could be bought at a regular grocery store. The Brookie cookie was especially soft inside and would be paired well with a cup of milk. 

This cookie contained 690 calories and 49 grams of sugar per cookie, which was much lower than the Birthday Cake Cookie.

Strawberry Ice Cream Bar Cookie 7/10

The Strawberry Ice Cream Bar Cookie was one of the three cookies in this week’s line up that was served chilled. The cookie itself is vanilla flavored, topped with whipped buttercream and  strawberry-vanilla streusel crunch. This cookie brought nostalgic memories of a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar. 

While the first two cookies did not live up to expectations, this one exceeded them, as it had a very subtle taste of strawberry and wasn’t overwhelming. The crunch of the chilled cookie was also very satisfying and it did feel like biting into an ice cream bar, though the heaviness and strong sweetness of the cookie lowered its rating. The cookie contained 950 calories and 68 grams of sugar.

Dulce de Leche Cookie 6/10

The Dulce de Leche Cookie, also served chilled, is flavored with cinnamon spice and a layer of creamy dulce de leche, finished off with a dollop of frosting. At first, this cookie was exciting to try as it has a very different flavor than the other desserts in the line up, but it ended up being the worst one out of them all. 

The cookie wasn’t suited to being chilled, as it just made the cookie dry. The cinnamon flavor was very strong and there was also a strong presence of ginger. The strong presence of cinnamon and ginger was unpleasant, alongside the cookie feeling out of season. I would hope to see this cookie during the holiday season, instead of spring. The cookie contained 730 calories and 61 grams of sugar per cookie.

Overall, the four cookies cost $16.49 as a 4-pack, but individually, they cost $4.99. It was exciting trying Crumbl Cookie for the first time, but they were not anything special and were exceedingly sweet. Although many fast food chains have safety and health issues, Crumbl was incredibly clean and customers could even see the employees making the cookies. In all, the experience was 6/10.
