A malevolent witch curses a baker and his wife, preventing them from having a child. Their only hope is to go on a magical quest, where they must find four enchanting items: a golden shoe, a golden lock of hair, a red cape and a white cow.
Chantilly Drama presents “Into the Woods” for the Critics and Awards Program for high school theater, the Cappies, this year, with opening night on Wednesday, April 27. Cappies Night will be hosted on Friday, April 29, and both the audience and judges will be able to attend to see the school’s take on this modern fairy tale musical.
On the first day of rehearsal, Feb. 14, cast members meet in the black box to discuss and go over character work. They also held auditions for what was coined “the most iconic role,” Milky White the Cow, who is Jack’s beloved cow, from the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. Students are excited to play the role since the cow is a favorite in the musical without even having any lines. Milky White was was chosen to be played by senior Harshini Bachu.
“This is the first time we’re all here in the same room,” senior Anna Anderson, who plays the lead role as the Baker's Wife, said. “It’s kind of the first time we feel the energy of the cast and how it’s going to be for the next couple of months, which is really interesting.”
