Gymnastics flips into the new season

Senior Hannah Liddiard performs a wolf turn on the beam. Liddiard ended with a score of 7.8 on beam. “Gymnastics is important to me because it has made me confident and showed me how powerful I am when competing and learning new skills,” Liddiard said.

Gymnastics held their first meet of the season at home on Nov. 30, competing against Oakton, South Lakes, Centreville, Wakefield, Yorktown and Patriot High Schools. The gymnasts performed solo routines on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor. The team consists of 13 members.

The gymnasts line up in front of the judges before beginning their beam routines. The team placed third with a total score of 130.850. Oakton finished first with a total score of 139.750. South Lakes placed second with a score of 131.400.

Chantilly Jazz plays “City in the window.” “My favorite piece that we played was definitely ‘Just a Moment’, senior Katie Dantinne said. “It’s not our cleanest piece but it was a lot of fun to play because we do these little dances during the piece.”

The CHS players run on the field before the game against South Lakes. Many members have set goals for this season. “This season I would like to be a solid defensive member on the team, and to win a lot more this year then last year,” senior defensive midfielder Jonathan Han said.
