Bull Run Festival of Lights illuminates holiday season

Glittering snowflakes, galloping reindeers, smiling toy soldiers and Santa Clauses. These are just a tip of the iceberg that make up the holiday light displays at Bull Run Regional Park. With a 2.5 mile-long illuminated driveway, the Bull Run Festival of Lights allows viewers to enjoy the holiday magic from the comfort of their cars with a Holiday Village and a carnival waiting at the end.
“We go to Bull Run once a year,” senior Anna Dimaiuta said. “It’s like a family tradition, and it’s really fun to do.”
This year’s festival opens from Nov. 11 to Jan. 8, 2023. Tickets can be purchased online for $30 per vehicle or at the door for $40 per vehicle.
Several rainbow archways are placed throughout the driveway as a bright transition between sections featuring different themes. Cars are required to maintain a minimum speed of 10 miles per hour and viewers cannot get out of the car while driving through the light display.
“I feel like they could also do walking and biking paths so that it’s not just cars,” freshman Trisha Upadhyay said. “Even though it’s cold, I feel like people would still enjoy that.”
