Senior Lucy Steltz tries to map out a new system and draws inspiration from her team’s other robots. Competition objectives from previous years share some of the same components as Rapid React, such as grabbing and storing cargo and hooking onto bars. These similar elements allow the electrical team to learn from previous robots and adapt some of their wirings. However, the climbing element of this year’s challenge poses a problem for Steltz and her team. “We’re having a little trouble building the pneumatic system because it’s not something that we’ve done before,” Steltz said. “We’ve done similar things with single bars, but going from bar to bar is a new concept.”
